Franklin Arterial improvement plans

The Forecaster reports on funds to further study changes to Franklin Art.

"The reclamation authority would like to see Franklin become a less automobile-dominated street. As currently designed, the stretch is out of scale with the rest of downtown and creates a divide that is difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to get across. Well-worn walking paths cut across the grassy median, where streets including Federal and Newbury used to run through. The community vision report calls for reconnection of those streets. Repositioning parts of the roadway would free up space for development along the edge of the road to create a more urban-scale street."
