Ocean Gateway to finally open

That reminds me, wasn't there talk of doing something with the Maine State pier, hmmm.... well I'm sure that will be done real soon.

And that is the heart of the waterfront?
"Portland's Ocean Gateway passenger terminal will open officially to the public on May 2, city officials announced today.

A dedication ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the new pier near Commercial and India streets, said Nicole Clegg, city spokeswoman.

The new facility in the heart of the city's waterfront will serve cruise ships and The Cat high-speed ferry to Nova Scotia.

Ocean Gateway is the result of a partnership between the city and the Maine Department of Transportation.

The ceremony will include Mayor Edward Suslovic, Gov. John Baldacci and other government officials from Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

On May 3, the city will host a free transportation trade show at Ocean Gateway from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The public is invited to visit various transportation-oriented booths and see the latest addition to the Portland waterfront."
