"The $957,000 grant was awarded by the Maine Department of Education to enable some 110 students at East End Community School and Reiche Community School to receive the intensive after-school help. The money, which will be spread over five years, comes from the federal government’s 21st Century Funding initiative and is part of the No Child Left Behind Act.
The grant represents the first time LearningWorks, formerly Portland West, has extended elementary educational programming to areas outside the West End, although some group youth and family programs have been held in other locations."
